The Background
The Lawyers’ League is into the promotion of sports and entertainment amongst lawyers. Owned and managed by lawyers with great passion for the game of football, the Lawyers’ League has striven to bring the fun, entertainment, social bonding and unity encapsulated in the game of football to our doorsteps in the legal profession. As we like to say, ‘in the game of football, we all speak one language’.
Timeline
The Organisers of the Abuja Lawyers League have unveiled Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN as the headline sponsor of the Lawyers’ Football Competition, known as Abuja Lawyers League 2023. This year’s edition is tagged CHUKWUKA IKWUAZOM (SAN) SUPER CUP 2023. The competition is a platform for lawyers to come together, outside of the courtroom and legal dealings, to enjoy the sport and improve their physical and mental WELL-BEING while still having fun and entertainment.

CHIEF Y.C MAIKYAU (SAN) (FCIARB) (U.K) FOOTBALL COMPETITION 2021
In line with the Lawyers’ League tradition of outdoing ourselves at every turn, we have kick-started the process to bring you a fiercer, more interesting and much more glamourous competition this year. Tagged the MAIKYAU CUP 2021, this year’s edition promises to be even better than the 2020 edition.
Scheduled to hold from 15th May – 10th July, 2021, we at the Lawyers’ League are leaving no stone unturned as we work to get more lawyers and firms on board and deliver a more exciting and interesting edition this year.

CLASH OF LEGAL JUGGERNAUTS
CHIEF CHARLES AKINLOLU OLUJINMI FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2019 (C.A.C.O.L 2019) IN HONOUR OF CHIEF CHARLES OLUJINMI (SAN).
In 2019, we hosted the CHIEF CHARLES AKINLOLU OLUJINMI FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2019 (C.A.C.O.L 2019) in honour of Chief Charles Olujinmi (SAN). We had a more elaborate competition with the number of participating teams increasing from 12 to14.
Expectations were rife as to which team would emerge Champions for 2019, Team Mexis with an undefeated run in two years or Cross Examiners FC which had risen as a strong contender for Champion of the Abuja Lawyers’ League. In an almost unforeseen twist, two-time defending champions, Team Mexis was dethroned by Cross Examiners FC on the final day of the league. Cross Examiners FC achieved this feat over Team Mexis by a lone goal on the final day of the league and were crowned the champions of the Abuja Lawyers League 2019. Thus ended Team Mexis’ two-year run as undefeated Champions.
THE ABUJA SUPER 5 CUP 2018 IN HONO UR OF PRINCE LATEEF O. FAGBEMI (SAN) (FCIARB) UK
(THE L.O.F CUP 2018)
In 2018, we made it a tradition and we had THE ABUJA SUPER 5 CUP 2018 in honour of Prince Lateef O. Fagbemi SAN (FCIArb) UK (The L.O.F CUP 2018) wherein we had 12 teams (L.O.F Legion, Raji FC, Ikpeazu Fc, Yusuf Ali Fc, O&A Warriors, K.G.A Fc, Tairu Adebayo Fc, Dele Oye & Associates, Yakubu Philimon Fc, Trinity Fc, Team Mexis and The Marks).
The 12 teams cut across over 30 law firms (Olujinmi & Akeredolu & Co, Ahmed aji & Co, Lateef O. Fagbemi SAN & Co, Yusuf O. Ali SAN & Co, Ikpeazu SAN & Co, Charles Edosomwan SAN & Co, Kanu Agabi & Co, Tairu Adebayo & Co, Dele Oye & Associates, Yakubu Philimon & Co, Mexis & Associates, Alex Iziyon SAN & Co, Awa U. Kalu SAN & Co, Delve Solicitors, Greenwich Partners, Ajudua Paul E.H & Associates, Ominike & Co, I. Musa & Associates, Polaris Solicitors etc).
It was a thrilling experience as these law firms came together to form teams. The competitions were keenly contested with TEAM MEXIS of Mexis & Associates emerging as the winner of the competition both in 2017 and 2018.

THE ABUJA SUPER 5 CUP 2017’ (BEYOND THE COURT ROOM) between the 18th – 26th of November, 2017, at Eden Garden, Utako, Abuja.
It was a successful and wonderful experience as lawyers from across the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja participated fully in the competition. There were six(6) teams in all which were made up of about 60 players (All Lawyers) drawn from about 30 law firms across the city to wit: Olujinmi & Akeredolu SAN & Co, Tairu Adebayo & Co, Ahmed Raji SAN & Co, Yusuf Ali SAN & Co, Lateef O.
